First face-to-face TCP ExCo meetings
since 2019 held in Vienna
In conjunction with our 5th Executive Committee meeting held in Vienna, Austria in April 2022, our hosts, the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) ran a TCP Day dedicated to socio-technical topics of the energy transition titled "Solutions for an inclusive energy transition".
Participants were present both in-person and online, and all agreed it was a successful and engaging meeting.
Comprehensive Behavioural Insights
toolkit is now live

The toolkit was designed by the Users TCP Behavioural Insights Platform to help policymakers think about how behavioural factors – such as social norms and cognitive biases – might affect the success of their policy. The instrument prompts a policymaker to screen their current policy approach and then offers tailored recommendations to make their policy more behaviourally informed and ultimately more likely to succeed. By providing easy-to-follow and accessible guidance, the toolkit represents an initial step for mainstreaming the application of behavioural insights in demand-side energy policy.
The toolkit can be accessed on the Users TCP website via the link below.

Policy Brief on Gender & Climate Change published for Dutch Ministry
Mariëlle Feenstra (Delft University of Technology) has written a policy brief for the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) as input for the the sixty-sixth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW66). The policy brief focussed on gender and climate change, emphasising women’s role in the energy transition and the gender face of energy poverty. Feenstra’s recommendations were mentioned by the Minister in his speech to the general assembly. A follow up meeting to discuss these recommendations will be planned with the Minister of Energy and Climate. The policy brief can be found in the report "Klimaatverandering & Gender" via the link below.

Fifth meeting of the Global Observatory
on Peer-to Peer Energy Trading

The fifth meeting of the Global Observatory on Peer-to-Peer, Community Self-Consumption and Transactive Energy Models (GO-P2P) will take place on 23-24 June 2022. It is being organised by the International Energy Research Centre (IERC, Ireland), which leads GO-P2P’s sub-task 2 on the ICT/data layer of peer-to-peer energy models.

This hybrid event is made up of two days. Day 1 will be an open day featuring speakers showcasing pilots of peer-to-peer energy trading in Ireland, as well as focus on topics of flexibility, energy security and fuel poverty.

Day 2 consists of an internal meeting of GO-P2P participants. The day will focus on the case studies of peer-to-peer energy trading, transactive energy and community/collective self-consumption which GO-P2P aims to collect through its 200+ participants across the world. The type of data collected from pilots is defined by the 6 literature reviews recently published by GO-P2P sub-tasks in high impact journals. The collected data will be used for an international comparative analysis identifying the factors enabling or inhibiting the rollout of these new energy models, as well as the development of a Readiness Index.

For more information on GO-P2P, and its recently published literature reviews, please visit the GO-P2P website at the link below, or get in touch with its Task Leader Alexandra Schneiders (a.schneiders@ucl.ac.uk).

Hard-to-Reach Energy Users Task
extended for 12 months

The Hard-To-Reach Energy Users Task (HTR Task) received approval from the Executive Committee at its recent meeting for a 12 month extension, to July 2023, thanks to two field research pilots, which were co-funded by the New Zealand government (Home Energy Assessment Toolkit interventions) and a large Canadian utility (empathy training for low-income energy advisors).

The HTR Task will have its first face-to-face workshop since the pandemic at the eceee Summer Study in June 2022. We will present findings on the case study analyses (methodological processes by Karlin et al & a cross-country case study comparison by Mundaca et al) and the HEAT kit pilot (Rotmann & Cowan). If you are planning to go to the Summer Study please make sure to join our informal session and meet our national experts there.

Details of the eceee Summer Study agenda and programmes for panel presentations can be found on their website via the link below.
