The second phase of the Users TCP Task on Public Engagement for Energy Infrastructure will use primary research methods to explore effective public engagement strategies for emerging energy technologies, including hydrogen, greenhouse gas removals/carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS), and advanced nuclear technologies.
Phase 2 adopts a science-for-policy approach, structured around a framework that integrates insights from behavioural economics, public engagement, and energy justice research. This framework is designed to help policymakers develop evidence-based, socially robust engagement strategies that support the successful deployment of emerging energy infrastructure.
Led by IEECP, the Task is funded by Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom and will build on the work done during the first Public Engagement Task, which focused on high voltage grids and renewable energy infrastructure.
